Dorm Life

A safe, warm, and inspiring home away from home

A Home Away From Home

The dormitory at Pischei Olam is more than a place to sleep — it is an essential dimension of a bochur's yeshiva experience. Living and growing together in a structured, warm community accelerates personal development in ways that no classroom alone can achieve.

Our dormitory is fully supervised by a dedicated team of dorm counselors and staff, led by Rabbi Avrohom Levi. Every aspect of dorm life — from wake-up routines to Shabbos programs — is thoughtfully designed to support each bochur's physical wellbeing, emotional health, and ruchniyus.

Parents can feel confident knowing their son is in a safe, structured, and genuinely caring environment — and bochurim quickly find that the dorm becomes a cherished home, filled with memories they will carry for life.

🏠

Housing & Facilities

Our dormitory provides comfortable, well-maintained rooms that give bochurim a restful personal space while fostering connection with their peers.

🛏️

Comfortable Rooms

Bochurim are housed in rooms of two to four students per room. Each room includes beds, desks, closet space, and climate control. Rooms are regularly inspected to ensure cleanliness and order — an important middos lesson in its own right.

🚿

Modern Facilities

Clean, well-maintained communal bathrooms and shower facilities are available on every floor. Laundry facilities are available on-site for bochurim's use, with clear guidelines to ensure smooth shared use.

📡

Technology Policy

In keeping with daas Torah guidelines, the dormitory maintains a carefully monitored technology environment. Shared, filtered internet access is available for legitimate educational use. Personal devices are stored securely during the week with designated access times.

🏋️

Recreational Facilities

A full outdoor basketball court, ping-pong tables, and open green space give bochurim ample opportunity for healthy physical activity. Exercise and recreation are considered essential components of a healthy yeshiva life.

📚

Study Lounges

Comfortable common-area study lounges are available in the dormitory for bochurim who want to review their learning in a relaxed setting, discuss a sugya with a friend, or simply read in a quiet space.

🔒

Safety & Security

The dormitory is secured 24/7 with keycard access, exterior cameras, and on-site staff at all times. Parents have peace of mind knowing their son is in a safe, well-monitored environment at all hours.

Kosher Meals Program

Three full kosher meals are provided daily in our warm dining room. Our kitchen operates under strict rabbinical supervision (hashgacha temidis) and is certified by a well-respected local kashrus organization.

Our kitchen staff takes pride in providing nutritious, varied, and genuinely delicious food. We understand that a well-fed bochur is a better learner. Menus rotate weekly and take into account the nutritional needs of growing teenage boys.

  • Full hot breakfast every morning before seder begins
  • Hot lunch with soup, main course, and side dishes
  • Hot supper with a full menu each evening
  • Shabbos and Yom Tov meals are elaborate and festive
  • Snack items available for bochurim throughout the day
  • Dietary restrictions and allergies carefully accommodated
  • Strict mehadrin-level kashrus hashgacha

Supervision & Staff

Our dorm staff are carefully selected for their maturity, their genuine love for bochurim, and their commitment to the yeshiva's values.

👁️

24/7 On-Site Staff

Dorm counselors and staff are present at all hours — overnight, weekends, and on Yomim Tovim. No bochur is ever without a responsible adult nearby.

❤️

Emotional Support

Our dorm director and counselors are trained to identify bochurim who may be struggling — emotionally, socially, or in their learning — and to provide appropriate support or refer to professional resources as needed.

📋

Clear Standards & Expectations

Bochurim receive a clear dorm handbook at the beginning of the year outlining expectations for behavior, room cleanliness, quiet hours, and mutual respect. These standards are consistently and fairly enforced.

📞

Parent Communication

We maintain open, proactive communication with parents. Families are notified promptly of any concerns and receive regular updates on their son's progress and wellbeing, not only when there are problems.

Our Dorm Philosophy

We believe that the transition to dormitory life is an enormous opportunity for growth — in independence, in responsibility, and in bein adam l'chaveiro. Our staff guide this transition with warmth, structure, and genuine care, helping each bochur grow into the responsible, considerate young man his parents and Hashem want him to be.
